Sec. Lapus Orders Study of School Calendar

by: Rey Anne Camille Sarmiento

Department of Education Secretary Jesli Lapus announced last July that he would study the proposal to move the opening of classes from June to September. This means that classes would run from September to March.

The decision to conduct the study was triggered by the series of class suspension due to heavy rains. Even in the absence of typhoons, classes were suspended because of heavy flooding in some areas.

The pros and cons of the proposal would be studied by the department.
